New study finds lack of sleep has negative effects on women’s hearts

A recent study published in the journal Scientific Reports revealed that losing just 90 minutes of sleep a night can cause significant damage to blood vessels in women in their 30s and 40s within just six weeks. The research team, led by Dr. Sanja Jelic, studied 35 women with an average age of 36. They had them sleep their usual seven to nine hours a night for six weeks, and then delayed their bedtime by 90 minutes (to about six hours) for another six weeks.
